Cathy Rocks is a scientist, storyteller, and lifelong lover of Earth's natural wonders. Fascinated by rocks, dinosaurs, volcanoes, earthquakes, and the history of our planet since childhood, she creates beautifully illustrated STEM picture books and children's science books that make present complex scientific concepts in a way that is easy for young readers to understand—all woven into gentle bedtime stories. Cathy holds a master's degree in Paleontology/Geology and a Ph.D. in Geoscience, combining scientific expertise with a passion for inspiring children's curiosity about the natural world.

As a child, Cathy was endlessly fascinated by the natural world. She spent countless hours wondering whether tiny universes might be hidden inside dust particles, why the continents fit together like pieces of a giant puzzle, and how oyster fossils had found their way into the rocks behind her house. She loved exploring the mountains and forests where she grew up, asking questions about everything from disappearing dinosaurs to what our planet looked like millions of years ago. Today, she combines that same sense of wonder with her scientific background to create beautifully illustrated bedtime stories that encourage children to ask questions, think critically, and discover that science is an exciting adventure rather than a collection of facts.

Cathy believes that every great discovery begins with a simple question. Did you know that crows aren't really black? Did you know that birds are living dinosaurs? Or that a simple pebble can tell the story of billions of years? Questions like these spark curiosity and inspire children to explore the fascinating science behind them. Through her stories, Cathy encourages young readers to discover that the world is full of wonder—if you know where and how to look.

Today, Cathy enjoys starting each day with a hot cup of coffee while watching the birds in her garden wake up. She shares her home with her furry, purring, and well-fed co-worker, Amelie, who is an expert at supervising writing sessions (especially when treats are involved). Whether she's observing wildlife, exploring remarkable rock formations, discovering fossils, or gazing at the night sky, Cathy is always searching for new stories and fresh ways to share the wonders of science with little explorers around the world.
